Although the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado is considered a midsize pickup, it packs full-size capability. A lineup of powerful engines is offered, each of which boasts class-leading attributes. With the right options, the Colorado can handily out-tow and out-muscle the competition.
Introducing the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado
The Chevrolet Colorado offers the maneuverability of a midsize truck without any compromises. Class-leading conveniences, eye-catching styling and the latest technology are onboard.
For 2019, a wide range of configurations are offered. Buyers can get anything from a value-oriented work pickup to an off-road adventure machine.
Four trim levels are available: Work Truck (WT), LT, Z71 and ZR2. Three limited editions are also offered. The lineup includes Custom Edition, Z71 Midnight Edition and Redline Special Edition. Meanwhile, body styles include extended cab long box, crew cab short box and crew cab long box.
Because the truck was redesigned just last year, updates are limited. One noteworthy upgrade is the addition of a Rear Park Assist system. There’s also an improved HD view rearview camera on select models.
2019 Chevrolet Colorado horsepower and torque specs
Three exclusive engine options are offered in the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado. The lineup starts with a 2.5L four-cylinder (200 hp, 191 lb.-ft.) that routes power to either a 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic transmission.
Next on the list, there’s the 3.6L V6 engine (308 hp, 275 lb.-ft.). Power output from the V6 is best-in-class. The stout engine pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Finally, buyers looking for gobs of torque will want to check out the Duramax 2.8L turbodiesel four-cylinder (181 hp, 369 lb.-ft.). Like the gas four-cylinder, the diesel engine pairs with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Colorado also offers both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations.
2019 Chevrolet Colorado towing and hauling specs
How much the Colorado can tow depends primarily on the engine selection. When properly equipped, the 2.5L four-cylinder can tow up to 3,500 lbs.* and the 3.6L V6 can pull up to 7,000 lbs.** Naturally, the torquey diesel can tow the most – up to 7,700 lbs.*** The Duramax offers both best-in-class towing capability and torque output.
The Colorado’s payload rating is impressive, too. Maximum payload is 1548 lbs. for a Crew Cab 4x4 model, powered by a 3.6L V6 engine.
2019 Chevrolet Colorado towing equipment
The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado makes towing easy with the latest technology. Models equipped with either the Duramax turbodiesel or the 3.6L V6 come standard with Active Tow – a feature that helps the driver align the vehicle with a trailer. Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist also make pulling easier, as does a standard Rear Vision Camera.
Hauling is simplified as well, thanks to an available EX lift and lower tailgate and CornerStep rear bumper. Standard two-tier loading and multiple tie downs are included as well.
